Not a great sleep. But after some coffee we went to the Palazza Medici Riccardi. This was a clouster with orange and lemon trees. It was attached to a church as well.

We walked through the market. The boar statue is there. You are to pat his nose and drop a coin from his mouth. If the coin falls through the great... good luck for you!

Next was La Borsa... namesake of my brother in law. It had rats and was on the verge of being condemned.

We went back to the Palazzo Vecchio and entered the museum and walked to the top of the tower. Views of Florence from the tower were spectacular.

After the tower we had our first sandwich. A hot ham and cheese croissant for deb... boring. And a procuitto with provolone and olive tapenade on a ciabbata for me... outstanding.

Found another church. The body of florentina. This was an abbey. The cloister of the oranges. This one was a St Benedictine church. Beautiful church with a cloister. St benedict has some skills becuae he brought this one guy back to like and thar dude was all chopped up. I guess that is why he is a saint though.

Then came probably my most favorite. Santa Croce. A massive church. Everything in this city is ornate. Down to the finest detail. This church was no different and maybe even moreso. The ceilings and columns had to be 3 stories high at least. In the chuch itself were many tombs of important people. Michelangelo, Galileo and Macciavelli were all buried there just to name a few.

next we started our trek to the river. On the way we found the public library. It was as massive as most churches. Went inside and were immediately escorted out. Apparently no foreigners on that day. So we continued down to the Arno river where we crossed the oldest bridge in Florence. House were actually built on the bridge. The entire bridge was walking only and it was all jewelry shops along the entire bridge.

Finally we had dinner at a restaurant on the Piazza della Signoria. I had pink dinner. It was ravioli stuffed with pear and walnuts cover with a beet crema. It was pink. Good. But pink. Deb had gnocci. Naturally hers were better. But the wine was top notch. And so was the antipasta. Excelt for the chicken liver pate. I tried it and will never try it again.
